Our Story
In 2019, our founders stepped back to assess life science laboratories and the technologies used in and around lab automation. They saw two major problems with the industry.
Problem One
Outdated legacy technologies are not open, making it very difficult for software products of different kinds to work together.
Problem Two
Liquid handling technology has been stagnant for decades. Many conventional liquid handlers are difficult to use and lack the features needed for a truly streamlined automation workflow.
Because of this, our founders saw the opportunity to make lab automation easy and accessible for everyone. They founded Genie Life Sciences to provide labs with a user-friendly, reliable, and robust platform to automate a variety of scientific applications.
Headquartered in Waltham, MA, our software, hardware, and commercial operations teams are focused on continuously building and improving upon our lab automation solutions. We wake up everyday thinking about how to get our users excited about using our products.
- Created by Engineers in Waltham, MA
- Hardware manufactured in New Hampshire
- Available for Distribution in the U.S. and most European Countries
Genie LabOS Orchestration Software and the Genie LabMate Next Generation Liquid Handler are available to most European Countries through our distribution partnership with GC biotech. Learn More

Our Mission
We Build a
Platform that...

Provides a Unified Experience
Our cloud-connected automation solutions provide a single platform for uniform device control and management. This means you can control plate readers, thermocycler, centrifuges, and more from a single, easy-to-use interface. Other industries have evolved with technology to achieve standardization, repeatability, and scalability. We’re helping the biotech industry and life science labs catch up.
Eliminates Busy Work
As part of simulation, we identify the consumable tips and labware required, recommend the device setup/layout, and determine the cost and time required to complete the desired set of actions.
As part of protocol authoring, we’re eliminating the tedious calculations for liquid volumes and ratios. These are auto-generated for serial dilutions, normalizations, and negative and positive control thresholds.

Builds Confidence
We are moving away from the conventional trial and error approach and harnessing the potential of the digital world. Powerful simulation gives our users an end to end view of liquids in each well. Simulation shows how liquids are being moved & mixed, heated or cooled, and even manipulated with beads long before a sample is ever loaded into an instrument. We’re giving scientists the peace of mind by demonstrating virtually how the system functions so that there’s no surprises when it comes to run time.
